  • Opposition Malaysian MP’s are dirt poor
  • It's not our fault you can't prove it
  • After my discharge, I called the sandwich shop to let them know about the problem, and to ask them to please reimburse me for the hospital bill… They gave me a long description of their food safety procedures. Going by their account, no one could ever get food poisoning after eating at their establishment…

  • Queer Theory Professor
  • Hansel25: I’ve tried every method. I went to see the professor personally and tried to talk to him nicely, I was even grinning my megawatt smile. But he took offense and thought I was criticizing his syllabus even though I said nothing about the syllabus. He shouted at me and even when he was shouting, I still took it calmly. I cannot believe a professor would shout at a grad student. He has so much pride. He hushes students who disagree with him. he never discusses the readings and when I try in class to always bring us back to the readings, he always misunderstands–whether deliberately or not, I don’t know–my questions. He only talks about huge irresolvable philosophical questions and everyone doodles in his class. I think I’ve done everything in my power to make this class work. I don’t understand why he has no self-awareness at all. Why are all the film classes (except for film theory) so bad? If not for my love in film, I’d given up long ago…

    If this were a film or some other literary text, what would the Professor’s motivation be as a character in that text?

    Hansel25 at 9:21pm April 21
    Laremy, I’d say his motivation is to cause my death through high blood pressure.

    Why would the antagonist want to cause the protagonist’s death then?

    Hansel25 at 9:46pm April 21
    Laremy: Naturally, it’s because the antagonist is too in love with the dashing and brilliant protagonist. Thin line between love and hate. :)

Here comes Bosola,

The only court-gall; yet I observe his railing
Is not for simple love of piety:
Indeed he rails at those things which he wants;
Would be as lecherous, covetous, or proud,
Bloody, or envious, as any man,
If he had means to be so.

(From John Webster’s The Duchess of Malfi, Act One, Scene I)
