With reference to credit lines, I personally don’t like hanging on to things I don’t use, or if they duplicate resources (e.g. I just cancelled my POSB Debit Mastercard because I already have an ATM card and my POSB Everyday Card takes care of my Mastercard needs), so I’m very firm about cancelling these things.
If the staff try to persuade you, remember that they have either been trained or are aware that every human being is susceptible to persuasion. Besides, they’re just doing their job; their is probably some incentive in it for them to get you to take the damn thing even if you don’t need it.
So it’s okay to say no if you have already made your mind up about all these gimmicky financial doo-dads, but only if you’ve reached your conclusion by way of sound reasoning.
